Narrow wins for Aditya, Raja

Aditya Agrawal and V. 'Raja' Subramanian registered narrow wins to advance to semi-finals, in the MCF Open Billiards Tournament, at the Mandpeshwar Civic Federation, Borivali on Thursday.

 

PJ Hindu Gymkhana's Agrawal overcame club mate Hitesh Kotwani 300-221 while Subramanian of Matunga Gymkhana, playing with a handicap of -450, hit two century breaks to scrape past giant-killer Chandu Kansodaria of MCF 300-297 in  thriller.

Agrawal recovered with a late surge following an indifferent start and changed his fortunes with vital breaks of 182 and 110 at the end to pip Kotwani.

 

Also advancing to the last four were 2015 Asian English Championship winner Dhruv Sitwala who halted Rishabh Kumar of Bombay Gymkhana in an effort that included a double century, three century and five half-century breaks, and last year's runner-up Siddharth Parikh who hit two double century, a century and five half-century breaks to prevail over Rohan Jambusaria of MCF.
In the semi-finals, Agrawal will face Subramanian, while Sitwala will take on Parikh.
