Chandu Kansodaria and Rohan Jambusaria advanced to the knock out pre-quarter-finals, in the state level MCF Open Billiards Tournament, at the Mandpeshwar Civic Federation, Borivali on Monday.


The MCF duo joined elite cueists Dhruv Sitwala and V. Subramanian who completed their second round robin ties with wins that sealed their places in the knock out.


Jambusaria romped to his fourth straight win when he beat Vishal Madan of Chembur Gymkhana to top Group G. Kansodaria went down to Sitwala in their concluding Group C match where the former, playing with a handicap of -130 and needing 325 points, scored 335 and finished second in the group to scrape thorugh at the expense of Yash Rungta of Kandivali.
Also advancing to the next round were Loukic Pathare of Chembur Gymkhana from Group F, and Hitesh Kotwani of PJ Hindu Gymkhana and Nikhil Ghadge of Matunga Gymkhana from Group B where the surprise loser was 2014 world team gold winner Devendra Joshi.


Meanwhile, defending champion and world professional No. 6 Nalin Patel of Bombay Gymkhana fired another double century break when he hit 229 while prevailing over Hasan Badami of Islam Gymkhana in Group D.
Group H turned complex following Aditya Agrawal’s surprise loss to Akshay Gogri of MCF and Shekhar Surve’s loss to Raghav Agrawal of PJ Hindu Gymkhana.
