Srikrishna pockets fifth Junior Billiards title in a row at Manisha - Vascon National billiards and snooker championships

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board’s S Srikrishna won the Junior Billiards after topping the pool of the round robin rounds at the Manisha - Vascon National Billiards and Snooker Championship organized by BSAM and PYC Hindu Gymkhana and played at PYC Hindu Gymkhana Billiards room on Thursday.
After potting the highest break of the tournament (211 points) against Rayaan Razmi of Maharashtra on Wednesday, Srikrishna got the better of Sparsh Pherwani 989-338 in the last round robin match. Srikrishna managed breaks of 130 and 126 points which took the game away from Pherwani.
“Right now I won the junior billiards. Next I will be playing junior snooker, after that senior billiards main draw. Tournament was quite decent, I played well against good opponents,” said Srikrishna who practices at The Mylapore Club in Chennai.
“While playing the seniors we juniors will have an advantage since we are playing here since ten days,” added Srikrishna who trains under his father N Suryanarayanan.
Rayaan, finished second after defeating Haryana’s Digvijay Kadian 554-461 with a highest break of 91.
In the Sub-junior Snooker, last year’s runner up Kreishh Gurbaxani defeated Priyansh Jain of West Bengal 3-1 in the best of five rounds. Student of Yasin Merchant, Gurbaxani clinched the first frame with a break of 93 wherein Jain could score mere one point. However the second frame went down to the wires but Gurbaxani scraped through with a 69-66 score. Jain made a comeback in the third frame with 55-47 but failed to hold on to the win and lost the fourth frame 31-63.
Gurbaxani who practices at Khar Gymkhana will take on Ranveer Duggal of Chandigarh in the semifinal round.
