MCF ‘Tough Men’ and Khar Gymkhana ‘Wizards of Hazards’ registered contrasting wins to set up the title clash, in the BSAM-organised Zarine & Yazdi Daruvala Charitable Trust Mumbai Billiards League, at the Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana.
Captain Rohan Jambusaria fired a significant break of 86 in the opener while compatriot Chandu Kansodaria hit an unfinished 33 in the concluding tie to lead Tough Men to an exciting 639-613 win over a determined Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana ‘Bawajis’.
In contrast, Wizards eased to a 550-459 win to halt CCI ‘Billiards Boys’ as national junior champion and IBSF world under-21 runner-up Ishpreeet Singh Chadha hit breaks of 56 and 47 for the winners.
A consistent Jambusaria lived up to his reputation with a dream start for Tough Men before compatriot Mehul Sutaria lost the second tie to a confident Rushad Patel 124-200. Playing with a +90 handicap, Bawajis captain Khushroo Daboo was set a target of 106 but a slew of missed pots and in-offs offered Kansodaria the edge. As the contest progressed, Kansodaria grew in confidence to fire the unfinished break of 33 that nailed the hosts.
