National junior and state champion Ishpreet Singh Chadha sparkled with an unfinished 160 for the tournament’s highest break to lead Khar Gymkhana ‘Wizards of Hazards’ into the semi-finals of the BSAM-organised Zarine & Yazdi Daruvala Charitable Trust Mumbai Billiards League, at the Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana.

Chadha, also the IBSF World under-21 runner-up and a recent winner of the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red snooker title, remained on a roll as he crushed formidable V. Subramanian 200-32 in the second tie to seal star-studded Wizards’ emphatic 350-77 win over Matunga Gymkhana ‘Nirmal Anand’, after 2012 national 6-Red champion Shivam Arora overcame 12-time state champion Arun Agrawal 200-130 in the opener.

Wizards set up a semi-final clash with CCI ‘Billiards Boys’ who halted Khar Gymkhana ‘Pocket Rockets' 695-644 in an exciting contest as Ritesh Shah, playing with a handicap of +75, reached his target of 145 to prevail over Akash Asrani 220-214 in the concluding tie.

Hosts Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana ‘Bawajis’ overcame Khar Gymkhana ‘Challengers’ 713-582 to set up the other semi-final against Borivali’s Mandpeshwar Civic Federation ‘Tough Men’ who beat Shivaji Park Gymkhana ‘Gentlemen’ 639-460, after Sanchit Gemavat rallied to a thrilling 200-194 win over Gentlemen’s Shekhar Surve whose significant break of 37 ended prematurely when he missed a red pot in the centre pocket and later another while leading 193-185 in the second tie.
