Mumbai: Khar Gymkhana’s Sparsh Pherwani, Maharashtra’s number one ranked snooker player, produced a master-class performance constructing an unfinished 127 break, which was the highlight of  KG ‘Gully Boys’ perfect 3-2 home and 3-0 away wins against Dombivali Gymkhana’s DG ‘Fighters’ in Section-F league match, during the second week of the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra organized Otters-BSAM MumbaiSnooker League 2019.
The 20-yearl-old Khar Gymkhana captain Sparsh (+15 handicap) came up with that magnificent effort to clinch a crucial 142-52 against Aditya Thakkar (+45) in deciding fifth frame, which sealed a tight 3-2 home win for his team.
Earlier, Sparsh’s teammate Kreishh Gurbaxani (+15) defeated Mayuresh Khandelwal (+60) 110-72 in the first frame. But, in the second frame Sparsh lost to Aashit Pandya (+25) 63-89 as the Dombivali side leveled the scores. Later, Khar Gymkhana’s doubles combination of Rebanta Sahijwani and Mohit Lalwani (+30) won the doubles frame defeating the Dombivali pair of Aditya Thakkar and Nitin Gokhale (+30) 82-52 to regain the lead.
But, Aashit Pandya once again came to the rescue of his team when he prevailed over Kreishh coasting to a 86-69 win to tie the match scores at 2-all and force the decider. Sparsh struck top form in the fifth and with some steadily and consistent potting he went about his task of polishing the balls from the table to compile the unfinished century break, which is the highest of the tournament.
Later, in the away tie, Gully Boys faced little opposition from the home team DG Fighters and completed a quick 3-0 win to record their second win and also pick up a bonus point. They now tally five points the same as JVPG ‘Mafia. Fighters have lost both ties face a Herculean task of winning both the home and away ties against JVPG Mafia in the final league match. Mafia having won both the matches against Gully Boys also has five points.
Meanwhile, defending champions Otters ‘Rockets’ continued with their domineering winning run of form as they tamed Dadar Club ‘Mercenaries’ 3-2 in the away match and 3-1 at home to collect their second bonus point and are now firmly perched atop Section-A with 10 points.
