Mumbai: Siddharth Parikh started with a blast and bulldozed his way towards an authoritative 3-0 win against Ranjeet in a third round match of the Matunga Gymkhana 9-Red Open Handicap Snooker Tournament 2017, which is sponsored and hosted by Matunga Gymkhana and played at the gymkhana’s billiards hall.

Playing with a low handicap of +3, Parikh quickly adjusted to the table and rolled in a break of 48 in the first frame and followed that up with efforts of 35 and 28 in the second and had good runs of 27 and 25 in the third to complete a (65(48)-32, 85(35,28)-45, 90(27,25)-62) against Ranjeet, who tried his best to match the brilliance of his opponent.

Himanshu Jain playing with the same handicap of +3 also enjoyed a good run and sidelined Khar Gymkhana’s Saparsh Pherwani (+24) 3-0 coasting to a 64-40, 55-34, 59-43 victory.

Meanwhile, Rahul Sachdev was another cueist who started with an identical +3 handicap, but he was unable to get into a groove and ended up losing in straight frames to Khar Gymkhana’s Kreishh Gurbaxani (+29) 0-3. Kreishh potted steadily and posted a 69-36, 57-45, 56-05 win.

Experienced cueists Manav Panchal and Mahesh Jagdale also advanced to the round of 32. Panchal (+10 handicap) registered a comfortable 3-1 win against Sahil Kakad (+35) with the frames scores reading 69-61, 70-35, 51`-76, 79(30)-51. Jagdale (+14 handicap) beat back a strong fight from Bapu Gaikwad (+35) to score a 3-1 (73(24)-42, 22-77(29), 64-53, 67-37) victory.
