Otters Club, Chembur Gymkhana take easy route to last 16 round Ashok Shandilya

Mumbai: Playing in familiar surrounding and making optimum advantage of the home conditions, Otters ‘Rockets’ (Otters Club) tamed MCF ‘Dark Knights’ (Mandpeshwar Civic Foundation) 3-0 to waltz into the pre-quarter-final round of the Otters Club-Mumbai Snooker League (MSL) – 2017, conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra (BSAM).
The Otters Club cueists, Abhimanyu Gandhi, Rishabh Thakkar and the doubles pair of Zenul Arsiwala and Yudhishthir Jaising potted steadily and with consistency and went on to complete a comfortable victory at the Otters Club billiards hall, late on Monday evening. Abhimanyu Gandhi was declared winner of the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
In another round of 32 encounter CG ‘Gladiators’ (Chembur Gymkhana) scored an authoritative 3-0 win against GCH ‘Garwarlords’ (Garware Club House) to also advance to the last round of 16. Seasoned player Ashok Shandilya gave the Chembur team a strong, solid start as he compiled a break of 44 in winning the opening frame which set the tone for their victory. Later, Loukic Pathare and the doubles combo of Vishal Madan and Vimal Thakkar also tasted success winning the second and third frames to wrap up the match. The ‘Player of the Match’ award went to Shandilya of Chembur Gymkhana.
Otters got off to a positive start with Gandhi (+20) easily defeating Sanchit Gemavat (+45) 110-67 before Thakkar (+30) managed to clinch a tight win against Chandu Kansodaria (+35) by a narrow 82-81 points. Later Arsiwala and Jaising (+27) tamed tamed the MCF pair of Ketan Kansodaria and Akshay Gogri (+32) 80-47.
