Thakkar, Waghela win deciders
Ankit Thakkar and Jatin Waghela registered exciting 4-3 wins, in the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Snooker Tournament on Tuesday.
Thakkar of the host club and Waghela, a marker at Dadar Club, followed an identical pattern of victory as they rallied from 1-2 and 2-3 deficits before winning the decider, on an exciting day of close encounters. While Thakkar moved into the third round, Waghela entered the second round.
Luv Boricha of Dadar Club also scored a second round 4-3 win after leading 3-2 against Vishal Yelve, while Mustafa Khozem rallied from a 1-2 deficit to halt Huzefa Cheni with another 4-3 win in the third round.
The other significant winners were, PJ Hindu Gymkhana duo Sushrut Pandia and Ajit Kobnak and Suresh Sawant of MCF, Borivali, while Neeta Sanghvi of Dadar Club, the only lady cueist in the competition, crashed in the second round.
