Matunga Gymkhana and Malabar Hill Club impress

Mumbai: Matunga Gymkhana’s MG ‘Gathbandhan’ and Malabar Hill Club’s MHC ‘Canon Masters’ both registered impressive victories in their respective first round matches, during the first week of the CCI Kekoo Nicholson BSAM Billiards League 2019.
MG ‘Gathbandhan team comprising of seasoned campaigners Naresh Sadarangani, Poras Shah, Darshan Shah and Arun Agrawal combined effectively and lead their team to wins in both the home and away ties (562-454, 579-346) against the Garware Club House team, Garware ‘B’, in a Section-G match. Matunga Gym having earned a bonus point from their double success, now has five points.
Meanwhile, Manan Shah and Manav Panchal both came up with responsible winning performances in both their frames to guide MHC ‘Canon Masters’ to fluent wins, home and away matches, against Khar Gymkhana’s outfit KG ‘B’ in Section-H round-robin league. Manan and Manav played steadily and consistently and they did well to cover up for teammate Andre Jhaveri who lost both his frames. The duo’s efforts proved sufficient for Malabar Hill Club to record 687-599 win at home and followed it with a 648-609 win in the away fixture and also collected a bonus point for the twin victories.
In Section-E encounters, Chembur Gymkhana’s CG ‘Gladiators’ tamed Catholic Gymkhan’s CG ‘Rebels 585-538 and 392-192 in the away and home matches, while Bombay Gymkhana team BG ‘Phantoms’ won both their ties against Park Clubs PCL ‘Beach Boys’ 676-559 and 625-538. Both Chembur Gym and Bombay Gym also clinched a bonus points and they have five points each in their kitty.
Shivaji Park Gymkhana side SPG ‘Gentlemen’ and Central Railway Mechanical Institute’s outfit CRMI ‘Star Blue’, both also won their two matches and walked away a bonus point each. In Section-F matches, SPG ‘Gentlemen’ defeated JVPG ‘Superlative’ 673-672 and 630542, while CRMI ‘Star Blue’ overcame NSCI ‘A’ 711-622 and 680-641.
