Mumbai, May 24: Matunga Gymkhana captain Naresh Sadarangani and seasoned campaigner Arun Agrawal, both struck top form and produced winning performances to steer MG ‘Gathbandhan’ (+75 team handicap) past Garware Club House outfit Garware ‘A’ (+210) by a convincing 656-595 points margin in a pre-quarter-final match of the CCI Kekoo Nicholson BSAM Billiards League 2019, organized by the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra and played at the CCI’s Sir Wilson Jones billiards room.
After Poras Shah (+60), the third member of the Matunga Gymkhana team, narrowly lost the first frame 182-200 to Tarun Singhania (+70), Agrawal (-50) showed excellent touch and control as he neatly constructed a break of 97 to outclass Bhavesh Jain (+65) winning the second frame by a massive 200-46 points difference and cancel out Garware’s advantage. Captain Sadarangani (+65) played steadily and quite consistently as he kept the scoreboard ticking to complete a 199-139 points win over Garware skipper Suvir Shah in the third frame and secure victory for the Matunga team and a place in the quarter-finals.
In another match, Central Railway’s CRMI ‘Star Blue’ team comprising of Umesh Barve, Nikhil Ghadge and Sunil Ghadge easily defeated MCF ‘Happygo Cueast’ 572-446 to also advance to the quarter-finals.
