Ten-year-old Shahyan Razmi of Radio Club rallied to a thrilling 4-3 win to enter the second round, in the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Snooker Tournament on Sunday.

St. Mary’s ICSE lad Razmi, the competition’s youngest cueist, recovered from a 2-3 deficit, after leading 2-1, to snatch an exciting 69-43, 38-53, 47-33, 38-42, 37-44, 51-39, 51-38 win over Akshay Waikar in the most absorbing contest of the day.

After dropping the nail-biting fifth frame where Waikar potted back-to-back blacks for a black-ball tie win, Razmi initiated a late burst in the next two frames with impressive potting and safety play. “I was happy with my game. I think the balls rolled in my favour at the end,” explained Razmi.

Razmi’s effort overshadowed Sagar Jain’s impressive back-to-back wins that led the young North Indian Association cueist into the fourth round following wins over Naresh Sadarangani of Matunga Gymkhana and Nihar Chavan of MIG, respectively.
