Vishal fires 60 points break to charge past Shubham Vishal Vaya

Mumbai, March 4: Vishal Vaya of Aquaria Club, Borivali straight away hit top form and smoothly sailed past Shubham Randhe of Elphinstone Cricket Club recording a quick 3-0 win in a first round match on the opening day of the Rs 12.9 lakhs prize-money CCI All India Open Snooker Championship 2019, organised by the Cricket Club of India at the club’s Sir Wilson Jones Billiards Room on Monday.
The former junior India cueist Vishal did not take time to settle down and potted steadily to take the first frame. Having gained in confidence as he showed excellent touch and neatly compiled a 60 break in winning the second before snatching a close third to wrap up the match winning at 93-31, 84-0, 61-47 and advance to the second round.
Meanwhile, Sangeeta Hemchand of Cricket Club of India, one of the three ladies participating in the tournament, put up quite a fight against Kaizad Fitter of Bombay Gymkhana, but finished on the losing side going down in straight frames in another first round match. Fitter fought hard and managed to overcome the spirited challenge from Sangeeta pulling through at 64-26, 48-21 and 66-61 frame scores.
Nikhil Ghadge of Western Railway SA also progressed to the second round after defeating  Ritesh Mendiratta of Bhopal 3-1 (46-59, 62-3, 67-27, 79-27).
In other ties, Ameya Sankhala of Park Club defeated Tekum Alim of Radio Club 3-0 (56-30, 63-48, 67-43), while Manoj Kasare of Khar Gymhana easily tamed Surat cueist Niraj Vasava 3-0 (53-41, 70-31, 66-59);
