Mumbai, 18: A determined Bhavesh Jain delivered the goods by winning both his matches, the crucial deciding third tie, which enabled Garware Club House (GCH) record victories over Matunga Gymkhana ‘A’ team in Section-D during the fourth round of matches in the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra (BSAM) organized Greatwhite-CCI Kekoo Nicholson Mumbai Billiards League 2023.
In the home fixture, Jain +45 handicap required 188 points for a win against Poras Shah +60 handicap who had to score 200 points in the third tie. Poras played steadily and was a point away from winning the match, but a costly miss let Jain off the hook. Jain stayed calm and scored the required points to help GCH snatch a one point 707-706 win in the first match. Later, in the away encounter, Jain once again won the third match to seal a 767-737 win for his team and in the process earn a bonus point.
However, there was joy for Matunga Gymkhana as their ‘B’ team once agains dished out fine performances and succeeded in winning both the home and away fixtures against Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana in Section-C. In the away match Matunga Gymkhana won 646-633 and on the home table comfortably won 694-561 to record their seventh win in eight matches and pick up their third bonus point.
