Charged up Siddharth cracks unfinished 193 to lead PJHG ‘Probables’ to victory Siddharth Parikh

Mumbai: Siddharth Parikh was in cracking form and notched up an unfinished 193 break in guiding PJHG ‘Probables’ (Hindu Gymkhana) to a 552-500 points victory against Garware ‘A’ (Garware Club House) in a pre-quarter-final match of the BSAM-The Chembur Gymkhana Billiards League 2017, played at The Chembur Gymkhana billiards hall, late on Friday evening.

Hindu Gymkhana playing with a combined team handicap of -10 as compared to Garware’s handicap of +225, got off to a positive start as Rovin D’Souza (+25 handicap) won the first frame against Chirag Mehta (+75) by a 200-127 margin. Later, Siddharth, the winner of the Gold medal at Asian Billiards 2016 in Al-Fujairah (UAE), last October, made light of his stiff -90 handicap as he immediately got down to business and did not give his opponent Amar Parikh (+80) much of a chance to offer a fight. The lanky Siddharth found his rhythm on his very second visit to the table and with some precision play he was in complete control during his unfinished effort to win the frame 200-0. In the third frame, Siddharth’s teammate Chetan Hemadi (+55) played steadily to score the required number of points to defeat Saumil Karkera (+70) 162-148 and clinch the match for Hindu Gym ‘Probables’.

In another last 16 encounter, ECC ‘Elfie Stars’ (Elphinstone CC) playing with a team handicap of +105 defeated SPG ‘Gentlemen’ (Shivaji Park Gymkhana) +235 by a comfortable 644-592 points. Seasoned Mahesh Jagdale made a substantial break of 85 in winning the third frame to seal the win.
