Match Format & Rules
Matunga Gymkhana 6 Red Open Snooker Rules
The usual Rules of Snooker apply with the following exceptions.
1. There will be no more than 5 consecutive 'Foul and a Miss' calls at any one time.
2. After 4 consecutive 'Foul and a Miss' calls, the referee will warn the offending player that should a 'Foul and a Miss' be called again, the following options are available to the non-striker.
(a) He can play from where the balls have come to rest.
(b) He can ask his opponent to play from where the balls have come to rest.
(c) He can place the cue-ball anywhere on the table, but
this option cannot be taken if play has reached the 'Snookers required' stage.
3. The player cannot snooker behind a nominated colour at any time. (Including when playing a colour after potting a red or a free-ball nominated as a red.)
4. On the colour balls (yellow onwards), a player needing 4 Snookers or more (40 points or more) will have to COMPULSORILY concede the frame to the player leading at that point.
Format :
First round till round of 64 - Best of 7.
Round of 32 till quarter finals- Best of 9.
Semi- Finals - Best of 11.
Finals- Best of 13.
General Rules :
1) Unless otherwise notified, the tournament shall run in accordance with the prevailing rules and regulations of the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).
2) Once entries have been accepted, no replacement/substitution of players will be entertained.
However, the Tournament Committee at its discretion, reserves the right to accept such changes if necessary and with valid reasons, so long as no match has been played by the player/s.
3) All player must report atleast 15 minutes before the scheduled time of their matches.
4) Only 5 practice shots allowed before the match.
5) All the matches will be played in accordance with the announced match schedule.
A grace period of 10 minutes will be allocated for each fixture. In the event of a player being late, by the end of the 10th minute one frame will be awarded to the opponent, after 15 minutes 2 frames will be awarded, after 20 minutes 3 frames awarded and after 25 minutes a walkover will be awarded in favour of the opponent present.
6) All the participants are requested to kindly pay the entry fees before their scheduled first match.
In the event of both players failing to turn up, the tie will be scratched.
7) Players shall be appropriately attired in shirts, trousers, smart casuals, collared T-shirts and covered formal or smart casual shoes during the competition.
8) Players SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED to play their matches in round-neck T-shirts, torn jeans, LOW WAIST JEANS, sandals and chappals.
9) In the absence of referee, all the decisions taken by the marker will be final and binding.
The tournament committee reserves the right to make changes to these rules and regulations and their decisions on all matters pertaining to this event shall be final.
10) The tournament committee has the right to levy a penalty on a participant for any damage done to the Cloth / Table by him / her while playing in the tournament.
