    Madan lifts title at Akshay Gohad Six Red Snooker Championships
     
    Pune, June 9:  Six Red Snooker no.1 player Varun Madan  of Delhi proved once again that he is the best in the game claiming the First ever  Akshay Gohad Six Red Snooker championships hosted jointly by the  PYC Hindu Gymkhana and Deccan Gymkhana 
     
    In the finals played in the afternoon session 24 years old Madan outplayed Ketan Chawla of Bhopal  5-1(51-05, 44-00, 38-02, 69-00, 14-33, 42-22) in a 1 and half hour tussel. 
     
     In the semi final match played in the morning top seeded Varun Madan of Delhi outplayed Railways player Laxman Rawat 5-2(49-21, 44-12, 44-12, 24-35, 31-38, 45-03, 43-06, 43-06).
     
    In the second semi final match second seeded Ketan Chawla of MP outpotted Mumbai’s Rahul Sachdev 5-3(00-48, 01-49, 38-08, 43-17, 34-26, 63-00, 14-35, 44-00) to make it to the finals.
     
    The winner Varun Madan received the winners Trophy and Rs.70,000/-, while runner up Ketan Chawla received trophy and Rs.40,000/-. The semi-finalists received Rs.20000 each, while the quarterfinalist  get Rs 10000 each. Shivam Arora (72 highest break) got highest break award. 
     
     The prizes were given away at the hands of Mr.Ajit Gohad and Yashodara Gohad parents of the late Akshay Gohad. Mr.Salil Deshpande and Mr.Shashank Halbe, Committee Member of PYC Hindu Gymkhana were present on the occasion. Mr.Samar Khandelwal welcomed the guest and proposed to vote of thanks.

    Pune, June 8:  Six Red Snooker no.1 player Varun Madan and Laxman Rawat of Railway entered the semi finals of the  First ever  Akshay Gohad Six  Red Snooker championships which will be hosted jointly by the  PYC Hindu Gymkhana and Deccan Gymkhana here today.

    In the quarter finals Railways player  Laxman Rawat ousted Pushpender  Singh of Delhi 5-2(16-30, 29-11, 57-07, 25-34, 34-02, 45-09, 41-16);

    In a thriller Delhi Varun Madan scraped past  Shahbaz Khan of PSPB 5-4(25-33, 06-40, 23-43, 41-15, 36-12, 44-05, 20-30, 34-21, 34-31) to make it to the last four

    Mangat Shocks Devendra Joshi, Sanchez topples Nichani at Akshay Gohad Six Red Snooker Championships

    Pune , June 6: It was a day of shocks as two international stars Devendra Joshi and Vijay Nichani  were toppled at the  First ever  Akshay Gohad Six  Red Snooker championships which will be hosted jointly by the  PYC Hindu Gymkhana here today.

    New Mumbai based Karan Mangat out potted former Asian Champion Devndra Joshi 4-1(01-32, 32-13, 35-22, 33-25, 37-19), while lone woman player in the draw former national champion Aranxta Sanchez shocked former India no.3 player Vijat Nichani of Tamil Nadu 4-5 in a close encounter Nichani led 3-1 before the Pune girl comeback to level scores at 3-3 and win the last frame 31-16 to leave the spectators shell shocked and make it to the third round

    Pune , June 5:    Anish Kering and Vedant Joshi registered 4-3 wins to edge into the second round at the  First ever  Akshay Gohad Six  Red Snooker championships which will be hosted  by the  PYC Hindu Gymkhana  in association with Deccan Gymkhanac here  .

    Poona Club  players Anish Kering rallied back from being 1-3 down to comeback and edge out  Vishal Malhotra of PYC  4-3(29-33, 35-00, 35-14, 38-44, 18-30, 46-11, 31-12); Deccan Gymkhana's Vedant Joshi played a superlative final frame to keep out  Anand Apte of  PYC 4-3(32-40, 22-29, 43-18, 41-29, 12-26, 48-21, 41-14);

    Lone women player in the draw Arantxa Sanchez of Turf Club recorded a 4-2(37-20, 60-33, 15-50, 29-19, 29-38, 25-21)  win over Rahul Narang of Mumbai to claim a spot in round two

    KADAM SCRAPES PAST PADLIKAR AKSHAY GOHAD SIX RED SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIPS

    Pune , June 4: Kunal Kadam scraped past Akash Padlikar by 4 frames to 3 to enter the second round on the inaugural day at the First edition of Akshay Gohad Six Red Snooker championships being hosted PYC Hindu Gymkhana in cooperation with Deccan Gymkhana here today.

    Kadam scraped past Padlikar 09-48, 34-16, 15-38, 10-18, 33-32, 25-12, 36-11 , local player Vishal Kadam scored a (35-39, 39-08, 41-06, 38-28, 11-41, 36-09 win over Karan Thopte of RCBC , while Jawahar Mankar registered a 29-30, 38-19, 38-28, 48-29, 53-26 win over Hirabaug's Samrat Patankar . In another match Rohan Sakalka played a tough match before overcoming Rishi Ramaiya of RCBC 49-17, 30-53, 28-18, 29-26, 21-42, 32-20);

    The tournament was inaugurated by Mr.Ajit Gohad and Yashodara Gohad parents of the late Akshay Gohad in whose memory the Rs 2 Lakh prize money event is being organised , Mr.Kumar Tamhane, Hon.
