Laxman Rawat of Bombay Gymkhana, recent winner of the ECC All India 6-red tournament, Rahul Sachdev of JVPG will be the star attractions during the Khar Gymkhana Open Handicap Snooker Tournament 2018, which commences at the Khar Gymkhana Billiards Room from Sunday, August 19. Khar Gymkhana’s formidable trio of Ishpreet Singh Chadha, Faisal Khan and Yasin Merchant, a former two-time Asian Snooker champ, will be home favourites to reach the final, which is scheduled to be played on September 5, 2018. All these five players will start with a scratch handicap, the lowest in the tournament.
Abhimanyu Gandhi (Otters Club), Hasan Badami (CC) and Asutosh Padhy (JVPG) will all play with a +10 handicap, which is the next lowest handicap in the competition.
The tournament offers attractive cash prizes with the champion standing to earn a sum of Rs 50,000, while runner-up would earn Rs 25,000. The losing semi-finalists will pocket Rs 12,500 each, the losing quarter-finalists would receive Rs 8,000 each and the losing pre-quarter-finalists would earn Rs 4,500 each.
The initial three rounds would be played on a best-of-5-frame format, while quarter-finals and semi-finals will a best-of-7-frame contest and the final will be a best-of-9-frame encounter.
