Ishpreet Singh Chadha qualifies for the last 16

Ishpreet Singh Chadha of India had to fight hard to beat Jefry Road of the Philippines in a must win situation to qualify for the quarterfinals. Ishpreet Singh who was in the lead by 3-2 when Jefry forced the decider by levelling the scores 3-3. By now Ishpreet who is nursing a foot injury and is permitted to wear sports shoes as an exception was limping in pain and was literally playing on one foot without putting any pressure on the injured foot. He however kept his cool and battled the pain to win the frame 63-35 and the match 4-3.

The last of the round robin matches in the billiards event was played by Pankaj Advani who kept a clean slate with an all in record when he demolished Hwang Chulho of S.Korea 4-0. He made 3 century breaks en route to his 4-0 whitewash.

He is now seeded no1 in the quarterfinals and will play Former Asian Billiards Champion Alok Kumar of Punjab.

Digvijay Kadian made some amends when he blanked Ayman Al amri of Saudi Arabia 4-0. Fan Zhengyi of China topped group 'B' with an all win record and 10 points.  Pongsak Chongjairak (Thai) and Haris Tahir of Pakistan topped their respective groups A & E , with all wins and 9 points. In one of the matches which got over very early was the match between Zhang Jiankang of China who blanked Abdulkareem of Syrian 4-0. He made a break of 101 in the first frame. Shrikrishna Suryanarayan despite having 2 wins to his credit could not make it to the last 16 as his frame difference was 0 and the other players from his group that went through to the last 16 Ka Wai Cheung and Lou Hanghao had frame difference of 4 & 5 respectively. Mohammed Naseem Akhtar of Pakistan also qualified for the last 16 when he blanked Indias Sunny Babar 4-0 to top his group with an all win record.
