Mumbai, February 7: Hassan Badami of Cricket Club of India was on a roll and waltzed past Vaibhav Waingade of Khargar winning their best-of-five frame second round contest by a convincing 3-0 margin in the Rs 12.25 lakh prize-money CCI All India Open Snooker Championship 2018, and played at the CCI’s Wilson Jones Billiards Room, on Wednesday.
The home cueist Badami straight away got cracking making a  small break of 31 in the first frame and he followed it with a timely constructed run of 38 to win the second frame on the black and open up a 2-0 lead. He, then, signed off in style by compiling a composed break of 51 to quickly pocket the third frame and wrap up the win with the frame scores reading 55-41, 53-52, 61-9.
Meanwhile, Amol Abdagiri of Pune led the charge of outstation cueist to the third round. Puru Dembla from Agra and Siddhesh Mulay from Chiplun, were the other visiting players who won their second round matches to progress to the next round.
Abdagiri quelled the late fight back from Malabar Hill Club’s Neel to register a 3-1 (55-8, 56-16, 84-22, 58-8) win. Dembla sidelined Divesh Gangwani of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana 3-0 (52-43, 59-46, 43-30), while Mulay rallied to overcome Nikhil Ghagde of Railways 3-1 (38-56, 68-61, 74-22, 67-37).
In other matches, Aditya Agrawal of Matunga Gymkhana and Manav Panchal of Malabar Hill Club also ended on the winning side to move into the third round. Agarwal lost the first frame but made a strong reply winning the next three to beat Manoj Nandwani of Ulhasnagar 3-1 (26-54, 62-57, 78-47, 82-21).
Panchal potted quite steadily to prevail over Asim Kadiwala of Jogeshwari in four frames recording a 3-1 (65-54, 32-63, 60-34, 73-17) victory,
