Mumbai: Hasan Badami played the lead role in leading CCI ‘X-Men’ to creditable 3-0 victories in both the home and away ties against JVPG ‘White Lions’ in Section-E, during the third week of the Otters-BSAM Snooker League 2018, co-supported by Z3 Zodiac Clothing and organized by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra. Badami (handicap +10) constructed half century breaks of 54 and a 53 unfinished run as he tamed Rishi Sangani (+60) 117-74 in the 15-Red singles frame to provide CCI ‘X-Men’ with perfect the start in the home fixture.

Later, CCI’s experienced captain Nikhil Ootam joined hands with Zulfikar Saria, and the duo playing with a handicap of +21 comfortably defeated the JVPG pair of Dhruv Pagaria and Dev Dongre (+26) 79-49 in the 9-Red doubles, before Cherag Ramakrishnan (+20) managed to pull off a close win against Veer Singh Nagi (+45) by a 90-84 margin in the third (15-Red) frame to complete a 3-0 win.

CCI continued with their winning momentum and also dominated the away match. This time, Ramakrishnan led from the front and easily defeated JVPG’s Sangani 113-77 to set the tone for their quick win. In the second frame, Badami overcame Veer Singh 65-55 and later Ootam partnered by another experienced cueist Dhruv Sitwala and with a handicap of +15 prevailed over JVPG duo of Dhruv Pagaria and Dev Dongre (+26) 79-53 to wrap up the match and complete a clean sweep.

Meanwhile, NSCI ‘Riders’ were also dominant in their Section-D match against CRMI ‘Star Blue’ and cruised to identical 3-0 wins in both the home and away matches. Playing first on their home tables, asserted their supremacy from the start as skipper Karan Chug (+45) out-beat his counterpart CRMI captain J.A. Thomas (+50) 116-81 in the 15-Red singles first frame. Siddharth Modi (+50) went on to win the second singles tie defeating Umesh Barve (+50) 109-96 to extend the lead before NSCI’s doubles combination of Kunal Kapoor and Jay Shroff (+30) completed the win with a close 46-35 verdict over the CRMI pairing of Philip Daniel and Ajay Makwana (+30) in the third doubles frame.

In the return away encounter, NSCI ‘Riders’ continued to hold sway and raced to another quick win with Modi and Kapoor, both pocketing singles frames, while Meet Mirchandani and Karan Chug won the doubles frame to seal the victory.

MHCL ‘Madcaps’ also had a successful round winning both their ties against MCF ‘Dark Knights’ by identical 3-2 margins in Section-A.
