 Arantxa Sanchis from Pune and Uttar Pradesh’s Paras Gupta, both recorded impressive 4-0 wins in their respective best-of-7-frame third round matches of the ECC All India Open 6-Red Snooker Tournament 2018, and played at the Elphinstone Cricket Club billiards room.

Putting a cool and calculated approach Arantxa potted steadily to quash the aspirations of Saumil Karkera of Garware Club House, by coasting to a 4-0 (31-18, 52-20, 44-41, 40-13) victory. The UP player was also in complete control and outplayed Thane’s Arun Kumar  4-0 (39-2, 38-15, 43-6, 28-6) win and a place in the fourth round.

However, Bombay Gymkhana’s Abhishek Bajaj stole the thunder by compiling a solid break of 72 en route to a 4-3 win against Matunga Gymkhana’s Poras Shah in another third round contest. After both shared the first six frames, Bajaj struck excellent potting form and constructed the huge effort to complete a hard-fought 27-33, 54-20, 27-29, 46-29, 45-6, 23-41 and 72-0 success.

Home challenger, Mahesh Jagdale had things much his own way as he eased past Dhairya Bhadari of JVPG 4-0 (54-24,  42-01, 46-8, 36-12), while Ajinkya Yelve (NSCI ) overcame Manav Panchal (MHC) 4-1 (50-44, 32-25, 26-37, 40-33, 39-6);
